1st Annual Dave Graves Corvette - Mustang Rally...Big Success
June 13, 2009 was the 1st Annual Dave Graves Corvette Mustang Rally. The event opened with the Pock er Run registration held at the American Inn, in Ft. Pierre. First Stop was the Capitol Building, Pierre and the last was Oahe Speedway. It was Corvette vs Mustang laying down rubber at the drag strip and of course FUN was the real winner. Over 30 cars were involved, with the best pocker hand winning the cold hard cash and yes, it was a Mustang owner.

There were smiles all over the pits from people that wanted to either drive down the track or take a ride. We all had a great time and look forward to an even bigger event next year.

Ready, Set Go!
There is a lot to be said about timing. It seems that time holds the key to everything. At the start line it takes total concentration. That is a lot harder than one would think. There is so much to concentrate on, what do you to think about? Checking your time on the board, positioning your car in the grove, complete your burn out and then finding your spot between the staging beams.
I did a little researching and found some helpful information to improve your reaction time and rollout.
I hear racers talking about how they leave the starting line, I try to be consistent in my own process from burn out to launch. I found the Beard's Reaction Time Clinic information useful and interesting. How many of you know the distance between the pre stage beam and stage beam?
